Ready to adopt? BC SPCA is offering half price dog adoptions right now

In an effort to free up shelter space, more affordable adoption is being offered until October 6.

Over the next week, the BC SPCA is offering a chance to adopt pets at 50% of the regular costs, and for those wishing to add a dog to their life, this just might be the incentive they need.

The campaign includes all companion animals - along with puppies and dogs, half price adoption fees also apply to cats, kittens, rabbits, small animals and farm animals (excluding horses).

The BC SPCA started the promotion last weekend in an attempt to clear space in all its locations for more and more animals needing its services.

“Many of our shelters are very full right now with animals seized or surrendered in large-scale investigations and our goal is to create capacity for these animals,” says Lorie Chortyk, general manager of communications for the BC SPCA. “While at the same time finding wonderful homes for the pets currently in our care.”

This is good news for dog lovers who have always had the idea of adoption in the back of their minds, and is the perfect time to consider a less adoptable dog that is looking for their furvever home.

“We encourage anyone who has been thinking about adopting a pet to take advantage of this promotion,” says Chortyk. “You will not only be providing a loving home for a deserving animal, but it will also allow us to create capacity for abused and neglected animals who urgently need our help.”

The process is fairly easy for anyone looking to adopt a dog into their life. Just go to the BC SPCA website, look through the animals in need of a home, and follow the adoption instructions.

The promotion is put on by Hill’s Pet Nutrition and lasts until October 6.
