The dog was handed in to the BC SPCA in Maple Ridge during flooding on November 28 and still hasn't been claimed.
A dog handed into the BC SPCA during severe flooding in the Lower Mainland is still waiting for his owner to come forward - nearly two weeks after the charity put out an appeal hoping to reunite the pair.
The BC SPCA's Maple Ridge branch posted on Facebook on November 28 asking Abbotsford and Chilliwack residents if the dog was theirs.
The large male neutered dog was found by a resident in fields next to Boundary Road in Abbotsford, which has seen considerable flooding in recent weeks after heavy downpour.
The post read: "This neutered male with no permanent forms of ID was brought to the Chilliwach [sic] branch this morning and due to flooding is now being cared for at the Maple Ridge branch. He was found in some fields on Boundary Road in Abbotsford."
It is unknown if the owner themselves has come into trouble during the floods and is unable to contact the charity. “The water was quite high where he was,” Vancouver SPCA branch manager Jodi Dunlop told Global News earlier this week. “He wasn’t swimming, but it was well up past his stomach.”
One commenter on the post suggested he may have crossed the border during the floods: "He could from Sumas USA side, since the floods some of pets have ended up on the other side of the border or vice versa."
Another claimed the pooch was a local farm dog, "often free to roam", but they were not sure who exactly he belonged to.
