6 fun activities to do with your pup this fall

Need some cute ideas for fall-themed things to do with your pup? Here are activities you're both guaranteed to love.

Fall is a beautiful time of the year, and whether you and your pup love getting outdoors, or prefer curling up together on the couch, there's plenty of fun plans you can make to celebrate the season.

Although many of us are feeling disappointed that Halloween is going to look a little different this year, there's no need to cancel the celebrations completely. There's still lots of safe and fun ways that you and your furry best friend can get into the spirit together.

In case you're running low on ideas right now, we've put together a list of 6 fun activities you can enjoy with your pup this fall in Vancouver.

1. Visit a pup-friendly pumpkin patch

Nothing says fall like a visit to a pumpkin patch. It's the quintessential fall activity, and it's also one that you and your furry bff can experience together as there are a few great dog-friendly pumpkin patches near Vancouver.

As well as the amazing fall photos you can capture, your pup will love frolicking through the pumpkins as much as you will.

2. Have a cosy night in with a Halloween movie marathon

If you and your pup prefer staying in and snuggling up together, then why not go all out and have a Halloween movie marathon?

Your pup may not enjoy the scary movies quite as much as you do, but you'll be glad of the company! Check out this list of 10 Halloween Movies Featuring Dogs for some ideas that you and your pup can watch together.

Create a nice cosy atmosphere by grabbing some cosy blankets, lighting some candles (we love Vancouver company You + Me Candle Studio for beautiful scented candles and room sprays) and of course, don't forget the snacks!

Your pup has to be cosy too, so we highly recommend checking out the selection of dog blankets and other cosy items available at Anipet Animal Supplies - we love the BeOneBreed Snuggle Bed.

3. Attend a dog-friendly Halloween activity

Halloween is going to look different this year, but there's still some fun, socially distanced Halloween-themed activities happening that you can attend with your pup. PawSwap has announced two very cute dog-inclusive activities, and you can grab your tickets today. Sunday Strolls: Pumpkin Patch Edition is taking place on Sunday, October 25, at Mann Farms, where you and your pup can enjoy a stroll through the pumpkin patch, pick your favourite pumpkin, and pose with your furry bff for a private mini-photoshoot with a professional photographer. Tickets have sold out, but you can get on the Waitlist now for when another time slot is announced,

Tails or Treats, is a socially distanced trick or treat activity taking place on Saturday, October 31, where you and your pup can get dressed in your spookiest costumes (choose wisely as your pup can win the costume contest!) and stroll the streets of Yaletown for some great Halloween treats.

For an extra treat, you can download the PawSwap app today to get $5 off your Tails or Treats tickets!

4. Take a hike together

If you love getting active with your pup, fall is the perfect time to take on a dog-friendly hike together.

The crisp leaves, stunning colours, fresh air and beautiful views will keep you both happy and a scenic hike is a great way to get into the fall spirit together,

Check out this list of the 12 top dog-friendly hikes in Vancouver for some inspiration, and don't forget to pack some snacks to reward your pup! You can't go wrong with Stella & Chewys treats, available from Anipet Animal Supplies.

As it's getting chillier, it's a good idea to have a warm coat for your pup. We love the Chicago Puffer Coat from Pets R Us as it's practical and stylish at the same time.

5. Dress up in matching Halloween costumes

You may not be doing your usual Trick or Treating, or attending any parties this year, but that's no reason to not dress your pup up in some fun costumes.

And this year, why not find some cute matching costumes ideas? Ash and Pikachu, Dorothy And The Cowardly Lion From The Wizard of Oz, Luke Skywalker and Yoda, Carole Baskin and a Tiger... the possibilities are endless! Just make sure to take plenty of photos and use #pawswapapp on Instagram so we can check them out!

6. Go for a long walk to take in the vibrant fall colours

An activity that you and your pup are both guaranteed to enjoy is a nice, long walk.

A peaceful walk is a perfect way to take in all the fall beauty, and there's some amazing short walks around Vancouver - just check out the photos below taken lately around Queen Elizabeth Park!

If you're on the look out for some stylish and great quality dog harnesses, we love the new Seeing Spots range by Canadian brand Island Dog Company as not only are they super cute, but a portion of their proceeds are donated to animal charities.
